I found a driver’s license. That’s it. I was being a good Samaritan and finding its owner. 

It’s irrelevant that the picture on the license was insanely hot. Or that the guy, Tyler, only lived a few neighborhoods over. It was altruism, remember?

Well, spoiler, he was even more charming in person. I thought I’d knocked our coffee date out of the park until I discovered he’s a hockey player as we said our goodbyes. Even worse, he was just recently drafted to my brother’s team. 

I don’t chase after players, especially not those on my brother's roster, but when I looked a little too long at Tyler at the pub after a game and my brother made a snarky comment? Yeah. It felt right to rub my independence in his overprotective face. 

It was just one kiss. One fake kiss.

Tyler rounded the island and opened the fridge, pulling out a bottle of water. “Just came in for a drink and to say good morning to Emma.”

He set the bottle on the counter, his heart pumping hard enough to fill a tire. Emma’s eyes widened as he curled his hand over her hip and pulled her against him. This was perfectly within her rules, and by the look on her face, she knew it. “Next time you all have a dance party, let me know. I’m the only one who gets to twirl Emma in this kitchen.”
